Yes, the idea of baseball without Vin Scully is difficult to compute. Although I have never been a Dodgers fan, I would often listen to their games on the radio just to listen to Vin. He had a neverending store of interesting stories.

Tom was born near L.A. and lived there until he was 15, so he was a Dodger fan from the start and he cannot imagine listening to a Dodger game without Vin Scully. Some of his earliest memories are of those games.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Can we please fire the writers for 2018 and hire whoever is scripting the Oakland Athletics season?
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

Felton (the next town over from Ben Lomond) native and San Lorenzo Valley High School alum Tyler Gilbert tonight became the second pitcher in modern major league baseball history to pitch a no-hitter in his first start, pitching for the Arizona Diamondbacks against the San Diego Padres. Congratulations and well done!
