The EigenHarp

Starting to get very interested in this. Way too expensive for casual interest of course, but I'm sure there wll be affordable knock-offs soon enough.

It does look like something from The Fifth Element.

I'm always impressed when someone has the musical and engineering chops to create an instrument and develop a technique for playing it adroitly.

But have they ever done Yogg(0) on hard mode? :D

My son is excited that he just bought himself a keytar. (Link) I dare not let him know of the existence of the EigenHarp. He will either pine away for it or drive himself crazy trying to make it. He did make a Theremin, though.

This is a fascinating instrument, Alatar. I like to see unlike things put together in interesting new ways.

Keytars! I was a child of the 80's as far as pop music was concerned so I'm very familiar with these! Keytars and Mullets go hand in hand!

There is a more basic version of the Eigenharp for about £350, but the full professional version is just shy of £4000 (without the Mac you need to use it!).

Brendan recently got a Mac so he could dedicate his old PC laptop to being an adjunct to the synthesizer keyboard. The synthesizer (a Kurzweil) had plenty of great sounds, but he wanted more. The boy's obsessed.

No mullet, though.

Of course, I'd love to try playing one of those EigenHarps myself.

This is a clip I had in Bag End of two Eigenharps playing the Moby version of the Bond Theme.
