A meditation for the New Year

Post by Pearly Di »

From a lady called Liz Babbs who leads retreats and writes books on Celtic Christianity (which she is particularly into ... as is Priscilla Tolkien, apparently).

It's very simple and while obviously Christian, isn't, I think, too 'in your face', if you see what I mean ... it can be used to shape and inspire one's own prayers, thoughts and reflections.

That's very pretty. I love that type of flute music.
From the ashes, a fire shall be woken. A light from the shadow shall spring. Renewed shall be blade that was broken. The crownless again shall be king.

Loving living in the Pacific Northwest.

Thanks, Di. I needed that kind of quiet "centering down" this morning...

Thank you for sharing! Happy New Year to you and everyone here. And, I guess, happy birthday to Tolkien, too ;).

Good point, Mith! We're toasting the day here:

“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Has anyone read anything by Liz Babbs? Or been to a retreat? I'd like more info on her.

Lali, Liz's website is here:
http://www.lizbabbs.com/

I bought her gift book Celtic Treasure for a friend for Christmas.

I also have her book Into God's Presence , published by Zondervan (which I've yet to finish reading :blackeye: but it's good :) ):

And I like this 'chillout' worship CD she produced:

She visits the US now and then. :)
