There is magic in long-distance friendships. They let you relate to other human beings in a way that goes beyond being physically together and is often more profound.

My husband just got me to order this shirt for him:

It's always cool when people do stuff like this though I don't quite get the mentality of making such cool stuff in such short-lived mediums:
Massive sandcastle Minas Tirith

I wanna love somebody but I don't know how
I wanna throw my body in the river and drown

That's pretty impressive!
I think the transience is part of the attraction. It's like those incredible sand mandalas that some Tibeta Buddhists make and then ritually destroy.

All beauty is transient. It's not a bad lesson.
Really, think about it—a live musical performance is gone as soon as the echoes die. You may never forget it for the rest of your life, but it's as gone as a sandcastle.

“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Their catalog arrived in our mailbox the other day, with my husband's name on it. He never orders stuff like this. I have no idea what mailing list we got on or how, but the catalog had this ent eye necklace in it. I think it's a horrifying concept.

More Lego sets being released:
Gandalf at Dol Guldur
Obviously lower end of the range...but interestingly Gandalf has Thrain's map - is this scene from the anticipated flashback?

Do we anticipate the flashback to be in the AUJ EE, or DoS? Should we make anything out of the fact that "Gandalf in Dol Guldur" is a lego set with the movie title "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey"?
