Nature Webcams

Sometimes it is soothing to watch a webcam instead of the news. Here's one with hummingbirds. A nice respite in midwinter, or anytime, as long as its daylight, Pacific Time.

And here's a webpage on aurora, including a live webcam. Alaska Time is one hour earlier than Pacific Time, and in the dead of winter, the sun sets around 2 PM. Auroras, in my past experience, peaked around 10 PM Alaska Time, which worked out perfectly for those 7-10 PM university classes.

Narya, nice!

Here's one of Monterrey Bay Aquarium webcams. They also have an otter cam, which I will share when I find it.

There should be a word for the microscopic spark of hope that you dare not entertain in case the mere act of acknowledging it will cause it to vanish, like trying to look at a photon. You can only sidle up to it, looking past it, walking past it, waiting for it to get big enough to face the world.

Mornings wouldn't suck so badly if they came later in the day.
