I can't cope with it any more. Seeing his face, hearing his voice on the news, makes me flinch right to the bone.

I'm about as far away from the USA as one can get and it affects me like this; I don't know how you cope with it when it's your country, your body politic, your lives.

Snowdog, I admire your resilience. I have come to the conclusion that there's no point in debating with people who have imbibed the kool-aid. You need cult level interventio to even have a hope.

Have you seen the RNC adverts? Goebbels would be so proud.

If you're interested there's been a bit of a renaissance in Irish Whiskeys. Bang for buck its hard to go past Teeling Small Batch, but for something a little heftier, try their Brabazon Volume III

Yeah, I've been there for a while. I cannot tolerate listening to him. I am truly afraid of the outcome of this election.

Honestly eyeballing Sweden at this point...

I can't stand listening to him for more than a minute. His voice is like sandpaper on my nerves!

elengil, Canada's not bad...free health care! My biggest expense for my cancer treatment has been parking at the hospital. Because I'm a senior citizen, drugs are free after the $75 deductible you pay every year.

I mean... Canada did recently remove the US as a safe country, so maybe they'd accept my asylum claim? But I was thinking Sweden. More removed, I actually have a family connection there (I mean, several generations back but still), and I don't know any French! :D

Elengil, the only time you will need to speak French is if you visit Quebec!

You might want to look at Sweden's Covid response before you move there!

Actually that's why I figured Sweden was probably one of the few countries that wouldn't reject me based on being from the US.

These are dark days in America.

I cannot listen to Trump and his lies. But perhaps that is a mistake. Know thine enemy.

Mild mannered comedian Jim Gaffigan lost it on social media last night telling Trumpsters to wake up and that Trump was nothing but a liar and a con. I get where he's coming from.
In our smallish (mostly white) quiet town we have old white men standing on street corners with assault riffles. I don't feel comfortable here how in the hell would anyone of color feel? This is Trump's America. He can't pin that blame on anyone else. Well, he can and he does because of course he does. Nothing is ever his fault, in true narcissist style. But this is what he has wrought.. the nut-jobs, the crazies, the conspiracy theorists.

I'm really hating COVID right about now. We've checked into moving to NZ. It's nearly impossible. Perhaps Ireland? It's truly depressing to see the country go down the drain to this fascist.

The NBA, who were the trailblazers of the covid lockdown, are now being trailblazers for voting rights and converting all arenas into polling places. Some MLB teams are doing the same for ballparks.

If you asked me in 2019 to name civil rights heroes of 2020, I wouldn't have guessed LeBron James.
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

I'm usually up for a good internet punchout, but five years of battling this plague has taken its toll.

Hmm.... might have to see of it's stocked locally.

And the week's RNC clowncar has finally passed. Just waiting for October when I get notified that my ballot has been mailed out. Like my primary ballot, it likely won't arrive here. Fortinately they have a contingency for wayward ballots.

I think putting serious stock into what countries we could to move to is the only thing keeping us sane. Well, that and the hope that the lying fascist loses in November.

As I've stated before, my expectations are not so sanguine. I won't repeat them because people start avoiding the crazy lady when I do that.

Voicing my fears doesn't help, and I've got plenty of them. The situation is not good. It never is when a narcissist is involved.

Even if Mr. Trump wins or steals the election. Even if he does his worst, beyond even our wildest imaginations, we will come out on the other side and move forward in ways that we can't even anticipate now.

My perspective has changed a bit over the past couple of weeks.

Facing the possibility of losing everything that you own has a way of changing your perspective about things.

Right on, Maria! I moved a year and a half ago, and because parts of the house still need some major painting and fixing up, a lot of my possessions are still in boxes. Now, with my cancer diagnosis, and turning 67 years old, I look around me, and think 'What have I got all this STUFF for?' :help:

A major decluttering is in my future!
