Hm. If one wanted to be on the jury of a high profile case, an obvious stratagem is suggested. Unless wanting to be on a jury is the sort of thing that disqualifies you.

There is certainly no guarantee that he will be given that option. James Holmes, the shooter in Aurora, wanted to plead guilty to avoid the death penalty, and prosecutors refused to accept that deal.
