Haha, this essentially live version of the Daily Show, with the Capitol building in the background, gets more and more fun.
I won't just survive
Oh, you will see me thrive
Can't write my story
I'm beyond the archetype
I won't just conform
No matter how you shake my core
'Cause my roots, they run deep, oh
When, when the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, "You're out of time,"
But still I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise
Oh, you will see me thrive
Can't write my story
I'm beyond the archetype
I won't just conform
No matter how you shake my core
'Cause my roots, they run deep, oh
When, when the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, "You're out of time,"
But still I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise

We are going in the same direction as Nazi Germany in terms of we have a ruthless group of people who make bold decisions. They spit on democracy.

Favorite sign in that slide show: "SOMEWHAT IRRITATED ABOUT EXTREME OUTRAGE"
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

From what I heard they didn't plan for the crowds they got. People ended up leaving because there weren't enough Jumbotrons to let everyone see and hear. As it was it looked like the Mall was about half full. I read reports that bars around the Mall were jampacked and that half the TVs were tuned to C-Span.
I am pretty sure the entire rally will be available on the Comedy Central website.
I don't, by the way, think the success of the rally or its size relative to other rallies makes any huge political point. Just that people like to laugh, and that they did seem to respond to Stewart's point that the polarization and shouting is getting wearisome.

Rebecca, I watched some it live right here on my computer. I'm sorry that you weren't able to see it, but as Prim said, it is sure to be available at the website.
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

Didn't you get the memo?
Of course, Halloween is not the absolute best day on which to ask Americans to demonstrate their level of sanity.

I'm wondering what would happen if I marched through Cambridge singing, "It's the greatest, strongest country in the world" and insisting that my sanity had been restored. Of course, British patriotism being at least as strong as American patriotism, they'd probably assume I was talking about the UK.
I won't just survive
Oh, you will see me thrive
Can't write my story
I'm beyond the archetype
I won't just conform
No matter how you shake my core
'Cause my roots, they run deep, oh
When, when the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, "You're out of time,"
But still I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise
