Coffee Party Movement

Post by Impenitent »

Are any Halofiriens aware of / involved in this?

I came across it by accident today and did some internet nosing. It appears to be an above-board grass roots movement, not directly associated with any political party, with broad principles and aims including s civility pledge. Claims a network of 500,000.

If I were an American, I'd get behind this I think.

O.o Will investigate. Sounds like a counter to the Tea Party
The dumbest thing I've ever bought
was a 2020 planner.

"Does anyone ever think about Denethor, the guy driven to madness by staying up late into the night alone in the dark staring at a flickering device he believed revealed unvarnished truth about the outside word, but which in fact showed mostly manipulated media created by a hostile power committed to portraying nothing but bad news framed in the worst possible way in order to sap hope, courage, and the will to go on? Seems like he's someone we should think about." - Dave_LF

I heard of something like this starting in 2009, but that iteration seemed to fizzle out. It's too early to say what will happen to this one, but the name isn't quite as catchy as 'Tea Party'.

According to the website, they've been active since 2010; could be the same mob. A really engaging website, with bloggers, activists in various areas of activity and thoroughly civil dialogue.

Yes, they've been around for a while. Not my cup of tea.

GROAN!! :salmon:
When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes The Rose.

Vinnie, you clearly know more about them than I. Would you elucidate?

My impression, which may or may not be accurate, has always been that they are more about being against something than being for something.
