Lost Posts from "Capital Punishment" Thread

Post by Jnyusa »

Friends, yov saved the lost posts before they disappeared and has sent them to me in a text file. I don't know if this will work or not ... and I'm not sure quite how to set it up ... but I thought I would create a thread for the posts from each particular thread, in the forum where it belongs, and just past up the text of what people had posted. You can copy it and restore quote functions, etc., and repost it to the thread if you wish.

The posts will no longer be in order, but you can always put a little note at the top that it is reposted from previous, and add new quote functions if you think that will help, and we'll be able to figure out the sense of it. Jn

Anthy....you don't really feel that. Meaning, if you were standing there,
watching those people get raped, you'd feel a lot differently about it. At
least, I think so. It is one thing to say "serves them right" and another to
be a guard who sets them up. You know?

But still...some part of me deep down just feels vindicated when I hear
that, say, a rapist has been beaten in prison. I know that it's horrible and
wrong, and I feel that it's horrible and wrong. And yet--a little part of me
just can't help but think that that person got what was coming to them. What goes around comes around, you know? The ultimate karma. However, I could never inflict such retribution on someone myself, nor do I think I could allow it to happen if I had any control over the situation.

Wow, what good points.

Mith, I understand what you are saying. I am pretty sure I would not be able to "flip the switch", or whatever. Like I said in the post above, I think
that whole process is bizarre.

But I do clearly remember, when Dahmer was killed, thinking: he deserved that. Not exactly "serves him right", although I can't quite explain the difference. Just... this is the inevitable end of the process he began. This is what he deserved.

Or, like Elsha says, the "ultimate karma". Full circle has been reached.

Yeah, but who are we to say who really deserves what, and to what extent?

Crucifer, of course, who are we to judge? (Although in his case, I don't
believe there is much of a grey zone, if you get my drift...) But I'm not
quite sure that's where I am coming from... it's more like the "oh, I see he was killed in prison. Well, you know, I'm not surprised. I guess sometimes bad things happen to you when you choose to kidnap, kill and eat people. You know, something to keep in mind."

Ah, but there is a difference between not being surprised at someones fate, and believing that they deserved it...
