It's interesting to note that despite the democratic tidal wave sweeping across the country, the difference between the two presidential candidates is only 900,000 votes, a tiny percentage of the whole!
Yes, which is why I don't like one party being in total control. The country is fairly evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans, and no one party should have complete control.

Ohio sucks tonight. :(

This is why I prefer the Irish system of proportional representation, not to mention the fact that there are 2 minor parties which can swing the vote (5 members prevented a hung election this year) Something like 80% of the eventual vote are for the candidates elceted, as opposed to elsewhere, where a margin of ten can sometimes be the difference! Madness!

Most major news networks are calling Obama the next president. I'm excited.

We're all hysterically happy over here! This is surreal. We made it through the past eight years ... WE MADE IT. And now, for the partying.
I won't just survive
Oh, you will see me thrive
Can't write my story
I'm beyond the archetype
I won't just conform
No matter how you shake my core
'Cause my roots, they run deep, oh

When, when the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, "You're out of time,"
But still I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise

Sitting here crying. So amazing.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

ABC and CNN are now both referring to Obama as the President-elect. Those people in NYC and Chicago look pretty happy, don't they?

Wow!

Pivotal moment.

I'm a little teary (and I'm thinking of King's "I have a dream...")

It is pretty amazing to think that a black man is the president of the US.

That makes me smile. :)

(But I'm still scared by his policies and lack of experience.)

That had totally slipped my mind!

Seriously, I don't really feel that much yet. Delayed reaction, peradventure?

I think I'm still waiting to see Indiana go blue. That's what I've been watching all night. If he had had that early on in the night, I'd have gone to bed with his victory sure in my mind there and then.

It seems Florida has gone for Obama. It's 4.20 am here in the UK.

I thought it was a great speech. By and large, McCain has been the one thing standing between the Republicans and a total wipeout. Shame so many of his so-called supporters don't see that.

It was a really good speech. Except for when the crowd booed when he talked about Obama near the end there.
