It was the McCain I could have supported as president. Generous, unifying, and patriotic in the best way. I am glad we still have him in the Senate.
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

I agree! How unclassy of his audience to boo Obama very unpatriotic :P

While I don't agree with McCain on most issues it was Palin that made me hate the party.

:agree:

I am glad he went out like a man.

Waiting for Obama to speak.
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.

That definitely was a classy McCain speech. I'm glad he went out with an integrity that he seemed to lose during the last couple months of this election.

Jesse Jackson was crying.

I have to say, this must be a partially bittersweet victory for Obama since his grandmother died yesterday morning before she got to see her grandson succeed to the most important job in America.

My county just reported its results and it went to Obama by 6%. It was Bush by more than 10 in '04.

Glad to see the outcome. Celebrate tonight and now Obama will have to fill his cabinet and begin transitioning. Unemployment, two wars, a housing market that continues to crumble ie the economy in general are great campaign angles, but now comes the challenge of managing all of these issues. I have confidence that Obama's administration can resolve these issues over time.

2. We have many ways using technology to be in touch, yet the larger question is are we really connected or are we simply more in touch? There is a difference.

What a good father to give his kids a puppy. I want a puppy, too, Mr. President-elect.

Puppies are only for those moving into the White House. It's called the Puppy Act, he's signing it with his mind as he gives his speech.

But it is not unusual for the dyed in the wool supporters to have that kind of reaction; it's a letting off of steam, that is all.

McCain's concession went beyond the civil and polite; it was really very healing and supportive. I'm way over here in the antipodes, but I have hope. :)

I feel much like the day when I watched Nelson Mandela walk to freedom. The emotional punch is the same.

Really, awe-some.
Mornings wouldn't suck so badly if they came later in the day.

I'm again struck by the thing that caught my attention in the first place; the sheer sense of context the man has.

Yes, he did. :)
I want a puppy too.

I think Barack and Michelle are going to be a very cuddly-kissey first couple. ;)

She looked kind of preggers in that outfit, but who am I to judge?! Just look at Hillary before the White House and after, there is a world of difference ;). Not that Michelle needs works she's not bad looking where as Hillary...well... :blackeye:

Yeah, I couldn't help but notice the outfit, either. It wasn't very flattering. And Biden's wife really stood out a lot in all yellow amongst the dark colors the rest were wearing.
