What lucky dogs you were! How I would love to hear her speak! Talk about being a fly on the wall of the world, when you think about her background, her observations would be genuine eye-openers.

bigmcstrongmuscle, hello! Haven't seen you much in our threads. Welcome to the hot discussions!

A claim that support is growing for OH Governor Ted Strickland to be Obama's VP:

Real Clear Politics

Quote:
Support is growing in Democratic ranks for Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland as vice president. He would bring to the ticket maturity (66 years old), experience (six terms in Congress) and moderation (rated "A" by the National Rifle Association). He is very popular in Ohio, a state Republicans must carry to elect a president.

He's almost as old as McCain. I think that would make Obama seem even younger. I think they should pick someone a bit younger for VP.

Bush Senior and Nixon had the right idea: pick a VP that no one anywhere wants in their darkest nightmares as POTUS.
Fortunately Nixon was outflanked on that one.

Bush Junior did a pretty good job, too. It was certainly one of the factors that kept impeachment off the table.

My grandfather served in the Navy with her dad. Najeeb Halaby was a Navy test pilot in WWII, and so was my grandad. I don't think Lisa was born until well after that-- early 1950's, maybe? But my grandad thought a lot of Najeeb, and kept in touch with him for a long time after their Navy days.

Our family's claim to fame! :) [/OT]
