Hobbit Video Diary links and discussion

Post by SirDennis »

Here's the first one: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php ... 7&comments

Quite encouraging, especially the most famousest line delivered by an equally famous Hobbit (at least I think it's him). The sets and props look amazing and I am quite relieved to see them after all the speculation about green screens and cgi environments. Great little installment all around.

Totally, totally beyond amazing....this is going to be awesome. I've fallen in love with Rivendell all over again!

And seeing Gandalf, Bilbo and the Dwarves in Bag End, as well as the Gollum's cave set - just the best thing ever!

Plus, the Maori blessing ceremony was so touching...

Thank you, Peter...

Dear God I just had a full blown Geekgasm.

And I am not ashamed to say that hearing that last line, spoken by that voice, has me sitting here in tears.

<squees like a helpless fangirl, then explodes too>
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Yes, it gave me chills!

But who's voice was it? I'm going with Martin, sounding like Ian Holm.

The sets! The detailed costumes and props! The camaraderie!

I'm almost positive that's Mr. Freeman and not Sir Ian Holm, but Sir Ian's cadence informs Martin's absolutely. Sir Ian's has a touch more sonority to it.

I tend to agree...it's a very good impression but it's not Sir Ian Holm as I remember his voice.

Going back to Peter's words about Rivendell:
'Also in The Hobbit is going to be a lot of new bits of Rivendell that we haven't seen before – some really cool bits of Rivendell, actually, that we've— we'll keep as a little surprise for the time being.'

Do you think we'll possibly get to see the Hall of Fire? After all, we know Lindir has been cast! :3face:

Yes, I think there is a very good chance of that!

Did you clean up after yourself? That's the main thing.

:P

In any case, I hope we get to see the Hall of Fire!

I wrote a fanfic once that involved the Hall of Fire.

I thought that looked like a Freeman stunt double; could just be for when the barrels are dropped into the river, and Bilbo has to grab a hold of the last one.
