The glimpses of Bag End are tantalizing! It looks like it's going to be a truly magnificent piece...

I love the cutaway at the back so we can see inside several rooms...

Arganoth and Bag End - yes indeedy. Sword of Aragorn which costs as much as a good used car - not so much.

I did see the 20 foot tall Barad Dur model used in the film at two different exhibitions and would pay the price of a new car for that one. In case the thought ever crosses the mid of anyone at WETA. ;)
There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

Very nice Alatar. I see the one with the interior is twice the price but is limited to 1,111 pieces. I went for that one.

Ah well, unless hubby gets a job soon I'll have to make do with my "No Admittance Except on Party Business" bookends...they're perfectly lovely on their own. :)

Oh Boy!
Rivendell - first look!

Senior Model Maker David Tremont and Designer Daniel Falconer have requested the original miniature of Elrond's Rivendell from The Lord Of The Rings back into the workshop and are studying it with a very particular purpose.

To make a collectible environment!

We will follow the process closely and bring you updates on the progress.

This promises to be a SPECTACULAR piece! Just look at it...

This is the best Halloween present ever.... even better than a grocery bag of chocolates. I am sure I can speak for fellow collector Alatar - we must have this one. I just hope and pray that its a big more substantial than the Bag End environment. But this is going to be amazing. And it looks like its another curio cabinet I am going to need.

thanks for the update Elen.

10 x 16 inches as the base makes it the largest environment yet..... this makes me very happy. glad I have a new job to pay for it. ;)

WETA update: the Rivendell environment sculpture is now going to be even larger than the 10 x 16 inches previously announced with it now looking to be about 12 x 18 and a good 7 plus inches high. I expect a price between $400 and $500.00 and will be happy to pay it.
