Never one to shrink from a challenge... here's my charade. Italics represent common mimes that everyone knows and so can't be construed as cheating.

Beware. If you get this right you have to do the next one.

Mimes "Its a Book"

Mimes "3 words"

Mimes "1st Word"
:halo: :halo:

Mimes "2nd Word is a little word"

Mimes "3rd Word"

Ummmmm .... I just got up and am drinking my coffee. Then I have a ton of work to do. Will have to give this some thought for something not too difficult to mime. :D

Be back after breakfast.

Yeah, Alatar is our resident hooligan. :P

ROFL about the smiley charades. :D Hmmh, rather like our code letters, aren't they? :P :D

(Sorry to continue the subject, but when I hear that "not your first language" argument I have to speak up. Charade fun doesn't have to do with what language you speak - after all, they work without language. In our case, it was being given titles no one knew (independently of language) - and that's not being bitter, that's just regretting that it's not very interesting. I think it's a lot more fun to have to kick yourself for not getting "Lord of the Rings", than to go "d'uh" for not getting "Chemistry: The Molecular Nature of Matter and Change."
If there was a stupid coincidence in the team choice, it was that there was no one in our team, AFAIK, who'd ever played charade before, while the others were all experienced players. ;)

I still very much appreciate having got the chance to play charades because it's something I've always been curious about, but I didn't think people still played it today.

To my own surprise, I quite enjoyed acting out the charade. )

I don't think I remember that - what's "password"?

Well, in that case ... carry on. I thought the joke was the utter impossibility of doing charades in a place where everything has to be written down. Silly me.

But we should figure out a way to do charades in writing ... like all synonyms or something ... because they are so much FUN!

Well if we get charades on British radio then writing them can't be too difficult.
Here's my emoticon charade. Three words, a Movie.

I'll give you a clue. Similar to the recent big movie in the news, this one also had protests about it.

Good grief, Alatar. I just went all through Goddard's filmography on imdb and could only find one movie that had a two-word title - New Wave. Obviously not the solution.

The only thing that seemed remotely to fit was In Praise of Love. Even in French it's three words.

I even tried cheating, and looked up all the movies of Goddard, but although there are a number of two-word titles, I didn't remember if any of them raised protests - and none seemed to fit the smilies anyway.
I could imagine that "A Bout de Souffle" ("Breathless") or "The Oldest Profession" might have raised a few eyebrows at its time, but it doesn't fit it with the smilies.

Ack, I missed that.
If I've read it in the IMDB list I didn't connect the Mary of the title to the Virgin Mary, and I didn't make the connection between  and "Hail" either (though it's really well chosen). I guess I do suck at charades.

Definitely never heard of the movie before now, though.
