20 Tear-jerkers That Make Men Cry

Post by Elentári »

Women are not the only ones that cry at movies. Men have admitted they too can open up the waterworks if the movie moves them. And what movies move men the most?

According to a Top 20 list compiled by the BBC News Magazine, Lord Of The Rings tops them all for men. Especially Return Of The King.
In response to the Magazine's discussion about why Toy Story 3 makes men cry, male readers have been getting in touch with their emotional side and opening up about their own private tear-jerkers. Here is a selection.
#1 Lord of the Rings, Return of the King
#2 Shawshank Redemption
#3 Up
#4 One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest
#5 Marley and Me
#6 The Champ
#7 The Notebook
#8 Babe
#9 Field of Dreams
#10 Chariots of Fire
#11 The Railway Children
#12 Steam of Life
#13 The Night Before Christmas (1941 Tom & Jerry)
#14 Man on Fire
#15 Life is Beautiful
#16 Bridge to Terabithia
#17 The Italian Job
#18 Rocky
#19 My Life as a Dog
#20 Truly, Madly, Deeply

Interesting selections there, and some probably peculiarly British!

Come on, our male Halofirians, what other films would you add to this list?

...and come to that, what about the girls?

I would include West Side Story, Brief Encounter, The Remains of the Day, Dead Poet's Society, Gallipoli and The English Patient as movies that open the floodgates for me.
There is magic in long-distance friendships. They let you relate to other human beings in a way that goes beyond being physically together and is often more profound.

The existence of the Hollywood remake of The Italian Job made me cry, I don't know if that counts. The original doesn't.
