Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu - the Gentle Giant

SHY Aborigine Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, blind since birth, has been hailed a musical genius with the most extraordinary voice. Geoffrey, or Gudjuk as he is also called, is from the Gumatj nation. He is of the Yolngu people whose native dialect he writes and sings in.

Put simply Gurrumul has a voice of uncanny beauty that can stop the listener dead. It is a sound of almost electrical clarity but is in no way harsh. One critic has described it as like "slow rain", presumably in reference to its lulling, hypnotic effect, captivating the listener.

Here is a link
to a video of his performance at a music award show last year.
There is magic in long-distance friendships. They let you relate to other human beings in a way that goes beyond being physically together and is often more profound.
