For that matter, why not get the whole crew that played for the inaugeration? At least it wouldn't be so cold that they would have to fake it like they did then.
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."
After some consulting with my singer (finally, I got ahold of him!!!), we've settled on Handel's "Ombra mai fu". It's a pretty song, and the context of it (man falls in love with a tree and sings an aria) sealed the deal. I'm not sure how S will feel about the opera bit, but he's going to love the subject.

I hope your wedding was all you hoped for, River.
I sang at my brother-in-law's wedding, let's see, uh, four years ago, I think. It was an outdoor wedding on a beautiful summer day among some shady trees in the foothills. It was a small gathering of friends and family.
Given the setting, and the lack of accompaniment (I sang it a capella), I thought John Denver's 'Annie's Song' would fit the bill. It did.
The funny part of the experience was that there was a DJ who wanted to mic me. I declined, as I would likely have been heard for miles around. Afterwards he still expressed the desire that he would have liked to have mic'ed me. Silly DJs! He also thought I should go into the wedding music business, but I prefer to just perform for friends and family.
