Shine on You Crazy Diamond

Post by Voronwë the Faithful »

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

Richard Wright, (28 July 1943 - 15 September 2008), rest in peace
"Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from his halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world."

“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

Defenitely a sad day and loss for music. Though making music long before I was born, I do appreciate Pink Floyd.

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
With friends surrounded
The nights of wonder

Rest In Peace

How did I miss this thread?

With his passing away, R and my objective of someday catching Floyd when they perform together crumbled. Hardly something significant in light of the loss of Richard Wright, but its significant to me.
