Remember that book he wrote and smuggled out of prison while awaiting trial? That started it. And then, after they rescued him, they spotted him talking to his imaginary Six and it escalated from there.

I guess I'll pretend that the book was a religious tract following a fervent-but-unseen religious awakening instead of a political tract protesting the power of the rulers. Blergh.

Secret of the Opera House coming up next!! (I'm loving Season 4 despite the vast issues it presents with so much of what came before.)

PS - I think the hybrid is coool.

(Though unfortunately I just allowed myself to read a crapload of spoilers thinking I was very anti-climatically done. )

All I'll say about Season 4.5 is that, if you thought things couldn't get more intense, you're wrong.

Jeez. Yeah. Things go from bleak to...bleak.
The writing at this stage may be the best it's ever been. Which pretty much makes it about the best writing ever in a TV show.
(Despite persistent irritations such as - what the hell does Saul have to do to lose his XO rank??????? Sheeeeeeesh.)

Remember two things. One, Adama is a self-admitted softie and Tigh's his BFF. Second, it's not as if he has a lot of back up.

Shoot. I keep mixing up Battlestar Galactica with Babylon 5.
Dig deeper.

But tell us how you REALLY feel about it, yov. ;)

 Toldja.

And is or is not Adama and Roslyn the best, most painful, most human love story ever? (Ever on TV, anyway.)

Just sayin'. :bawling:
“There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

That is not at all the reaction I expected after the finale, but I'm glad you feel that way. :)
And it is said by the Eldar that in the water there lives yet the echo of the Music of the Ainur more than in any substance else that is in this Earth; and many of the Children of Ilúvatar hearken still unsated to the voices of the sea, and yet know not what for what they listen.

Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. :bawling:

I didn't either. Quite frankly, I'd given up on them pulling off even a half-decent ending. Too much messing about with the mythology of it all. But even though on a more literal-minded level there are still lots of problems with that ending, on a more poetic level, it all felt so right to me. Silly on several levels, but beautiful, and beautiful in just the right way. To me, of course. :)

One thing I was unhappy with: the Chief. I loved him and his character. They put him through so much hell - his first love betrays them, his second commits "suicide", his son is not his own, his memories are false, one of his supposed allies is Kalli's murderer - they take everything away from him by the end and leave him with absolutely nothing. And he gets no ending. Last we see him, he's a broken man sitting there after killing Tori. He deserved more than that. :( :( :( :( :( :(

It was her self righteousness. In the beginning of season 4 she wouldn't let Kara go off searching, but yet remember the time she sent Kara off against orders to go search for the arrow?

Very true. I think one of the things the show did very well was show a certain corrupting influence of power. While neither Adama or Rosalind were ever "evil" they both did some extremely morally questionable things "because I said so". It felt like a very realistic portrayal of what power can lead you to.
