Elrond Halfelven was a great master of lore, and Rivendell a great center of learning and art. In the Prologue to the Lord of the Rings, Bilbo is said to have "used all the sources available to him in Rivendell, both living and written" in preparing his three-volume "Translations from the Elvish." It is easy to picture a vast library of texts full of ancient wisdom, and artwork of exquisite beauty and power. Thus we felt that "The Library of Rivendell" would be an ideal name for a forum dedicated to the discussion of literature and the fine arts. Many thanks to Prim for suggesting this excellent name.
