Tolkien?

Also sounds a bit like Pratchett’s non fiction essays, but those are more direct.

And it’s you quoting it, V.

I am clearly not setting the world on fire.

It may be time for explicit nudity.

The give-away might be the fact that the quote says "J.R.R. Tolkien wrote."

As opposed to implicit nudity? Aren't we all implicitly nude underneath it all?

Some of the nudes are really quite amazing. (Matisse would be proud.)

Just sayin'.

And some of the nudes are much better off staying merely implied :scarey:
The dumbest thing I've ever bought
was a 2020 planner.

"Does anyone ever think about Denethor, the guy driven to madness by staying up late into the night alone in the dark staring at a flickering device he believed revealed unvarnished truth about the outside word, but which in fact showed mostly manipulated media created by a hostile power committed to portraying nothing but bad news framed in the worst possible way in order to sap hope, courage, and the will to go on? Seems like he's someone we should think about." - Dave_LF

Where? I don’t see it in your post with the quote.

ETA: never mind. I see Dave attributing that failure to Tapatalk

You know what’s missing here? An adequate level of admiration for ME.

I’m not saying that it’s all about me, but it is.

*Admires Whistler with Great Admiration*
*Truly*
*Has spent hours browsing through the gallery website, bookmarking artworks for my purchasing wishlist*

I note you have posted here a large proportion of works with a Holocaust theme. Is this a particular area of interest or mere chance?

*Admires some more, to ensure admiration level is sufficient*

*Is curious about the explicit nudity*

Well, somebody has the right priorities. Your admiration level is adequate.

I am fiercely politically incorrect in the “social justice warrior” sense, which I see as shallow and self-serving. But sometimes I do feel the need to address serious subjects because...well, because I can. I have several Holocaust pictures, several devoted to ISIS and Islamic terrorism, and several about the abuse of women. They won’t save the world, but I do what I feel I have to do.

The nudity isn’t explicit, but the password Matisse will get you into the NSFW galleries.

I had a number of male nudes, but nobody seemed to care for them. It was very strange.

From a purely artistic standpoint, the female form suits my style better because its beauty lies in its elegant, graceful lines. The male form is more sculptural. That’s why Michelangelo, being primarily a sculptor, painted “female” figures that are (if you study them) closer to male. I began as a cartoonist, so I like nothing better than a graceful, fluid line.

Anyway, finding a good male model is often difficult, while I have access to literally hundreds of female models.

And of course there is the fact that, as a straight male, I simply like them better.

As a gay male and an art lover, I have noticed this very, very often. It displeases me. :nono:

(It's at least partially why, back when I was still drawing, I chose to do a couple male nudes. Balance the scales a bit, as it were.)

I like that one. Too many people pride themselves on speaking their mind and forget to develop a mind worth speaking.
If there was anything that depressed him more than his own cynicism, it was that quite often it still wasn't as cynical as real life.
