Actually, for what it is - a comic book adaptation, really - it's quite purist. His messy habits, his depressive bouts, the prize fighting, the shooting - it's all in the books. His messing with Watson's marriage (and of course in the books Holmes knew Watson's wife, since she was one of his client...

classic stuff to catch up

About older Doctor Who (I will watch if I ever get over the theme song, I am still scared), I am a little confused about the plot and some fanboys kind of scare me when they explain stuff.(I have witnessed some hardcore fan debates :blackeye: ) It seems in the older series the Time Lords were aroun...

Most the special was pretty good except those drawn out depressing parts (I was pretty depressed at the time I watched and I expected it to make me feel better. I find Russell Davies to be rather like his own description of the Tenth Doctor... he's terrible and wonderful and sometimes he needs some...

Might not be "new" but it's now "confirmed" to me... so the script is finished and McKellen has seen it. I am reminded of when we were following the embryonic LOTR films from conception until maturity. It's like 1999/2000 again:).. we know almost nothing at this point but I still...

Whistler, I've been over at your site admiring your artwork (despite a shocking lack of machete headed saints). I didn't see this thread, nor did I look on the zazzle site until now.

I loved Aegean Nocturne... and was delighted to find I could get it on a mug (so I did).

My father recalls that early post war, Pius was looked on favorably for protecting the Jewish people. The attitude towards Pius at that time was quite different from this time. The following statistic may be incorrect, but my understanding is that in most of Europe 80% of the Jews were killed, and i...

I remember hearing Peter Yarrow sing an introduction about the maligned dragon. the song was never about drugs.

Peter Paul and Mary, The Weavers, Pete Seeger (solo)... I grew up with the music. I'm quite saddened by the news.

My 11 year old doesn't really like it. Maybe he's just a bit too old.

He's a huge classic Who fan... tom baker is his favorite doctor.

I watched most of series 1 of SJA, and found it rather disappointing. I think the kids aren't very "real" ... I find it rather "dumbed down". Casting of kids in Doctor Who is outstanding... but in SJA I feel like I'm watching a Disney Channel Teen Show. :: shudder ::

They're still working the bugs out. Dr. Nichols has only been working on it for about 25 years.

I didn't find Philosopher's Stone to be "pure" at all... it was a collection of snapshots from the book but missed some big things (like WHY Voldemort was diminished). But I did not like PoA. Best of the books, and while I liked some scenes in the film, I felt some parts were cartoonish. O...

Love Sarah Jane. I didn't see Rose rise above the rest as a companion in particular (though the fact she absorbed the heart of the tardis at one point does make her different), but I did enjoy watching the doctor become more attached to her. I liked Martha in series four, because she was no longer t...

I just got my copy. It looks beautiful. :) I was so excited... I called my daughter Annie (who posted on TORC as "Willow" years ago... she's all grown up now) and told her about it, and now she's excited (she comes home in two weeks and she'll grab it from me).

I find the idea of 10.5 fascinating... there are so many ways they could go with that (if they could get Tennant) but I more than half expect that character to gone by the Christmas special this year. Don't know Farscape... but like many Who fans I thought of the Valeyard when 10.5 showed up. Unable...

My daughter and I had the same reaction when watching... was this a set up? She sings SO well that I'm having difficulty believing no one noticed before. Cinderella stories make good TV too. Just how "real" is this show? I have no idea, I've never seen it before. If it's genuine, it's a wo...

I love explorations of the character of the doctor... it's one reason I liked the Satan Pit (which could have been pretty cheesy but wasn't). What got me with HumanNature/FoB was that this character, this John Smith, really was so the Doctor. He put on a 'costume' of John Smith but underneath it was...

When my kids said they were watching the new Doctor Who, one reason I did not watch with them (other than looking in here and there) was I expected a 'modern update' that would make it silly. Not silly in the way it's supposed to be at times, but just not 'who'. The first one I remember looking in o...

Hi all. :)

Whistler invited me over here about.. um... does three years ago sound right?

I tend to procrastinate.

I came over and saw all the familiar names.. I miss y'all!
