Well, if it works for you... I can't say it's complete hogwash because I haven't studied it, but it definitely veers into the "quackery" area for me. Effectively what seems to be suggested is that you can get a "snapshot" of my personality in those 4 letters and I'm sorry, but I ...

So what you're saying (forgive me if I put words in your mouth here) is that if I tell you I am an ENFP or whatever, that you then will know how best to treat me and respond to me, despite not knowing me any better than you did before I told you that? Am I understanding that correctly?

The LotR/Musicals is a good idea. Another idea I'd like to throw out for consideration would be "Images of Middle Earth". This could be Tolkien based artwork that you love, or alternative artwork that reminds you of Middle Earth, or photography (your own or others) that reminds you of Midd...

It's so superficial as to be generic and useless, yet people believe in it and base their judgements of people on it. Thats the real problem. How is it superficial? It tells you the base drivers of someone's personality - what types of behaviour are natural to them, and what aren't. It's like being...

Both are true If, as you believe, its a powerful tool but not totally decisive, it should certainly not be used. A powerful tool that is flawed is dangerous. However, I don't think it's as powerful as you believe. Just because a box of apples are all red does not mean they taste the same. Some will ...

Eragon and Eldest

Has anyone read these? They're main claim to fame seems to be that the Author, Christopher Paolini was so young when he wrote Eragon. I believe he was about 16 at the time and is still only about 19 with two bestsellers to his name. Eragon is surrently in production as a movie and is due for release...

If I felt that you were only dealing with descriptions this conversation wouldn't be taking place. The problem I have with the MTBI is that it's not used to describe people, it's used to classify and categorise them. Or at least that is certainly the impression I get from the threads here and on B77...

But what's wrong with defining these things based on "the person" not "the label". Of course I treat some people with kid gloves where others get the cold slap, but that's based on my experience of them as people, not on their supposed adherence to a "type". I know you ...

But surely we shouldn't need to know each others "types" to have a meaningful debate? I certainly never felt that we were unable to communicate. Sometimes people are frustrated with a discussion, not because of the lack of understanding, but the lack of agreement! I'm not saying that the M...

Well, if you're going by what the test said I am, you're spot on. However, you told me not to go by the test and instead to pick the description that I felt best described me. ENFP is described thusly: Enthusiastic, idealistic, and creative. Able to do almost anything that interests them. Great peop...

Nice work Hobby, I actually figured out most of that one by myself. I think once you're in the mindset it gets easier. :) About Jnyusa, I assumed it was a phoenetic spelling Jay +Ten -T + USA J + EN + USA Jnyusa pronounces her name Jenyoosa I believe, so it's half phoenetic and half spelled out. Tha...

So lets see, according to yova I'm either INFP or ENFP but of that only the NF part is fairly sure. Lord_M has me as either NFJ or NTJ. So basically the only thing that two people can agree on for sure about me after knowing me for a year is that I'm definitely N? It doesn't sound like a very good s...

Whistler, I'm sure you have already considered these options, but you might find that an English publisher might be more willing to handle your book than an American one. They certainly seem more forward thinking and less mainstream. Also, subtlety and sophistication are hardly bywords for the sort ...

Ok, here's what I think we have so far... The picture must point to the word; so if Peter Jackson had been locked in a room and forced to Here I think we have solve Tolkiens letters but so + 450 E should be "so LD E" wouldn't it? LV would be 55? Toll + Canes = Tolkiens then two letters = l...
