Re: The challenges ahead (Biden's America)

It's easy to blame the media, or rich people, or whoever else. I advocate looking in the mirror. That's a very optimistic view, because if it's us who are the problem, then we can solve it, but if we are up against a sophisticated disinfo machine, state funded troll a farms, strategically design al...

He broke every promise he ever made unless it was to do something nasty. Why, given his record, they even talk to him?

I guess if they dangle a large enough donation, they might get somewhere.

Re: The (no longer) much too early 2024 election thread

Not to mention that the voters are greatly influenced by social media companies that are either controlled by hostile states (TikTok, Twitter through Musk's creditors) or are driven by algorithms that are susceptible to manipulation by hostile state agents (the rest of them). And they are pulling fo...

Is there a law that requires them to warn you that you are being recorded? There are lots of those cameras here, but no warnings.

Re: Favorite artists - contribute!

That kind of a abstract art is not for me. It takes an amazing kind of mastery to evoke emotion through seemingly random splotches of paint, and I usually enjoy watching the clouds more. At least I don't have to wonder if the artist is having me on (well, I do, but on a very different level). Kandin...

I agree it's not abstract, but I do think he's taking a page (canvas?) from Pollock where the act of creating the painting is as much a work of art as the painting itself. And the result can stand on its own when viewed by someone who is not aware of the process. Pollock's work just looks like cats ...

Re: War between Hamas and Israel

Yeah, Netanyahu is also fairly awful. He's not wrong on that point, but I really don't like where that kind of rhetoric can go if taken too far. For one thing - notice who isn't protesting for Hamas? Israeli Arabs. There are massive protests against the government in Tel Aviv, but they are carrying ...
